The Pharisees Couldn’t Stand Him

The Pharisees Couldnt Stand Him

You see, through the various prophets in the Torah and the Bible, God told the people exactly how the Savior would come to us.

Isaiah said:

“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”  Isaiah 7:14

Sound familiar? Jesus was born of a virgin named Mary. The name “Immanuel” means “God is with us”.

Pretty obvious.  Could God be more clear?

But the pharisees insisted the Messiah would arrive in a more kingly manner.

The people, for the most part, did not heed the prophets warnings or prophecies.  And even when Jesus our Messiah was standing right in front of them, the majority (including the pharisees and sadducees) did not believe the King of Kings would arrive in a manger or enter Jerusalem on the back of a donkey.

You see, their plan was that the Messiah would arrive in the most spectacular way. Perhaps He would come down from Heaven in a chariot and save the day.

Well, He did come down and He saved more than the day.

He came to save us.

Who is Jesus to you?

Do you believe He died for you?
